Why We Homeschool

Looking back on my childhood, I never really understood why we had to go to school for such large gaps of our lives. I always craved more time with my parents, but unfortunately, that wasn’t feasible given the society and period that I grew up in.

Shortly after becoming a mother myself, I realized that I wanted something different. I knew that I wasn’t ready to give up huge chunks of time with my kids in exchange for countless hours of tedious homework and unnecessary stress.

I craved a community that we could equally be a part of while sharing the beauty of the world in and around them. I wanted to give them the opportunity to dive deep into what really makes their hearts sing while embracing their primal instinct to play and explore.

The Indie Sol was founded on these principles that encourage and foster the imaginations and curiosities of our youth; resulting in a balance of heart, mind, body and spirit.

“Most children spend their days being passively instructed, and made to sit still and take tests—often against their will. To foster children who will thrive in today’s constantly changing world, we must entrust them to steer their own learning and development.”
