Slowing Down Childhood
The key to slow down childhood is to simply spend more time with your kids.
Childhood feels quick because of the gaps between when we spend time with each other. So how do we tighten the gaps?
The key is to cultivate your child’s natural sense of adventure and wonder while making sure they have the freedom to safely explore boundaries and limits.
1. Stop rushing
Stressed parents who rush everywhere are one of the main sources of stress and anxiety in children.
2. Breathe
Take three deep breaths with the outward breath being longer than the inward breath, count to five and do it again.
3. Slow it down
Try walking slower, talking slower, and being more mindful or present in your day-to-day life (there are millions of books and online resources to teach mindfulness).
4. Get Outside
Spending time in nature has enormous benefits for us all. This is an anxiety kicker for sure!
Our children are only children for such a short time. Let’s give the gift of presence to the best of our ability!
